A320 and Boeing 737: the planes you fly most

If you've taken a short-haul flight, chances are you were on one of these two families.

What is narrow-body?

Aircraft with a single aisle, usually with 3+3 seating, are called narrow-body. Most short and medium-haul flights use them.

The Airbus A320 family

It includes the A319, A320 and the longer A321. Versions with new-generation engines end in neo (A320neo, A321neo); they're quieter and more efficient. You'll see them often at Pegasus, AJet and in Turkish Airlines' short-haul fleet. The short barking-like sound sometimes heard at the gate is typical of this family and comes from the hydraulic system.

The Boeing 737 family

One of the most common airliner families in the world. Its newer versions are known as the 737-800 and the newer-engined 737 MAX. Turkish Airlines, AJet and many airlines fly aircraft from this family.

Does it matter?

As a passenger the two families feel very similar; cabin width and sounds differ slightly. When you open your flight in SafeSkies, the Aircraft tab shows which type you'll fly, how old it is, and a photo of the aircraft.
