What is a flight number and how do you read it?
The short letters and numbers on your ticket are an address that identifies your flight anywhere in the world.
Two parts
A flight number has two parts: the airline's two-character code and the flight number. In TK1981, for example, TK is Turkish Airlines and 1981 is one of its specific services.
Common codes in Türkiye
- TK: Turkish Airlines
- PC: Pegasus
- VF: AJet
- XQ: SunExpress
Codeshares
Sometimes the same flight has several codes: a flight operated by one airline is also sold under a partner's code. If your ticket shows a different code, your boarding pass says which airline actually operates it (“operated by”).
Following by code
In SafeSkies, just type the flight number: departure and arrival times, the aircraft's current position, the turbulence forecast along your route and the weather at your destination come on one screen. If you don't know the code, search by departure and arrival city.
